Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an Indian-born British American musician and sitarist is best known for her musical talents. She was awarded the British House of Commons' Shield in the year of her youngest and the first female to receive it. In addition to receiving nine Grammy nominations, she was also the very first Indian-origin musician to present at and perform at the award ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was an Indian young sitar artist. She is the student of Ravi Shankar and is also his daughter of Ravi Shankar. She was born London in 1982. In her first years she split between London New Delhi. She gave her debut performance in New Delhi at the tender age of 13. In the following years she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school, graduating with distinction in 1999. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman but she has a very remarkable career in the field of music and performance. For a long time she performs regularly alongside her father. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. Apart from performing in all of the largest venues, she also has an extensive stage presence. Anoushka isn't only a singer. Bapi the The Love of My Live, a picture-biography that is written in tribute to her father Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. Also, in films in 2003 she was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she is a young Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka's career is still developing and she will continue to do many great things in the future. Anoushka Shakar, born in England was a major part of her time between London Delhi. After moving to California she graduated from high school. When she was 9 She began studying music alongside her father. The first time she performed on the sitar came at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka, who accompanied her father on his worldwide tour, gained an impressive quantity of knowledge. As a teenager, she played in Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and even recorded with George Harrison. Her artistry and musicianship were recognized by British parliament as among the finest in Asian Arts.
